I am finally moving into my new house on Tuesday. After being in my flat for over five and a half years it is deeply strange to be moving out (which is probably partly why I havenÂ’t been in a massive rush to get to my new place). Given everything else that is going on at the moment it is a bit of a hassle (but the other reason itÂ’s taken so long to move is that IÂ’ve had so much on and there isnÂ’t really an end in sight, so it would be a fag whenever IÂ’d finally chosen to go)
Three more nights in this place.
Today I got a note through from the girls downstairs. You may remember I have previously been critical of them for letting me know about garden parties late and then not inviting me. This note informed me that one of them was having a 30th birthday party in the garden that evening and hoped that that would be OK. Of course, itÂ’s not like a birthday is something you can plan for in advance, so thereÂ’s no way they could have let me know before. They always seem to have parties when I have a lot to do and am very tired (but maybe thatÂ’s just because I always have a lot to do).
This note was different though. Because it closed with the words, “And please do pop down for a drink.”
Not exactly a whole-hearted invite – “pop” down for “a” drink. But still, progress has been made. I have to say I wondered if they’d been reading my diary, which I always forget is a possibility and I felt a bit embarrassed by my unwarranted attacks on them.
Then it struck me that if they are reading my diary, then they KNOW I have a lot of work on this weekend and have deliberately decided to have a party, to disrupt my plans. The bitches! Inviting me along is just to let me know that they know. They are insulting me more than ever.
As it happened I couldnÂ’t go because of writing and gigging and when I got home the party had mainly broken up and they hardly made any noise at all. ThatÂ’s not the point. ItÂ’s psychological. TheyÂ’re trying to fuck with my brain. I bet it was them who put the piano at my new house too.
TheyÂ’re good

I have one chapter (or 3000 words) to do by tomorrow night. It is quite a tricky chapter. Wish me luck!
