Sunday 22nd January 2006

Most of today was spent watching the second half of season one of Lost. I have been waiting to catch on the crazy adventures of the plane-wrecked fools since November, occasionally catching a bit of an episode on TV and trying to resist the temptation to watch it so that I could wait for the DVD and see them all in the right order.
Of course I wasn't really anticipating it reaching any kind of conclusion. It was unlikely that they were going to get rescued or season 2 would be a bit of a damp squib, but it was still very hard to not push on to the next episode as each one finished. Maybe we'd find out what was in the hatch. Maybe we'd find out what exactly the monster in the trees was. Or maybe they'd managed to string it all out for another 12 or so hours without really revealing anything at all. That would be the most impressive thing of all.
Still, aside from an unexpected death or two, everything remained hidden, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless and it was approaching midnight when my viewing was finally over. My dreams were filled with chases through trees and arguments with fellow castaways and failed escapes. In hindsight I almost feel silly for spending so much time getting involved in something so silly.
I've "lost" a day of my life that I won't get back.
I don't care. It was worth it. Roll on season 2. I hope Walt will be OK.
