Thurdays coming round like days at the moment. I can't believe there's another one already.

Terrifying scenes in central London today as some fascists (sorry some anti-anti-fascists) fought police, pissed on memorials to terrorims victims and Nazi saluted their way through town. There was bizarre footage from Hyde Park of a wandering horde disrupting a picnic, presumably because they were unable to find anyone else to intimidate.
I thought we'd settled the fascism thing, but maybe we need to give anti-anti-fascism a go just to check. It's different because in spite of the salutes and racism, it's actually not pro fascist. It's just anti people who are against fascism.
Once that's proven not to work because it ends up being so close to fascism that you might as well have saved yourself some typing, I will bring in the anti anti anti fascism party, which is not anti fascism (so fascists can relax) it's just anti people who are anti anti fascists.
I can't see anyone being against that. But if they are then we're in for quite a ride.
Thank goodness we've got the virus under control and aren't heading off the cliff of Brexit or I'd be really worried about where all this is leading. Hope we can bump things forwards, but will there be some steps backwards first?
Hopefully most people aren't stupid enough to try and celebrate Churchill by seig heiling or to punch policemen because there's no one else around to fight (they forgot about each other), but maybe they aren't. The world is getting pretty stupid at the moment.
If this is all in the Trump/Johnson playbook for success then they are taking a huge risk. It seems unpredictable to me and hasn't worked out so well in the past (in the short term maybe). Perhaps Russia is the blueprint. Christ knows. It'll be annoying if we've spent our last few months of freedom locked up indoors.

Delighted to say that Midnight Run really held up. Grodin is fabulous in the film and I think it's De Niro at his funniest too (yup, better than the King of Comedy). Watch it if you haven't seen if for a while. Or if you've never seen it.
On Sunday night I will be watching a terrible film (I suspect, I don't think I've seen it yet, but I have seen Little Man which was very bad) called White Chicks to examine whether white-face is offensive/ a thing. You can watch along (you can rent the film at most outletsand view my commentary here. Starts at 7.30pm
