After the luxury of working from home and doing only one RHLSTP a night (obviously that's always how it's been), I'd forgotten how much a double record and getting there and back takes out of you. It's quite something when you basically get a hangover from working. But it's 38 days since I had a drink, so I can't blame the booze.
It was a pretty relaxed day and the cold kept us inside, apart from dog walks. I played a game with my kids where my son ran a pet shop and sold me a kitten, played by my daughter, called Rainbow Unicorn. I paid the shopkeeper three monies, but was suspicious that he put them all in his pocket rather than the till. And then he decided he wanted to be a kitten too. I am not sure that the Pet Shop Guild allows its members to sell themselves or identify as pets. But I went along with it.
I didn't have much energy to play, but being an older dad it's often hard to keep up the enthusiasm without needing to sit down for a bit or think of a game that involves everyone having a sleep. Would it be better if I'd done this twenty years ago or would I have been just as tired, or just less inclined to spend my time pretending to be a pet shop customer being duped by the shopkeeper (I wonder if there could be a sketch in that - funnily enough my son did sell me a parrot as well, but the cat ate it).
My daughter turns six this week. Six!

We watched Birds of Prey tonight. I have got a bit fed up of superhero films and though I wasn't 100 per cent on board with this one, I enjoyed it more than any of the Avengers rubbish that I've watched recently. It was only when Harley Quinn talked about harlequins that I realised her name was a pun. She's not a character that I am super familiar with, but I've heard the name enough times that that is an embarrassing oversight. Though it took me much longer (and actually meeting him several times) to realise that comedian Bob Slayer's name was also a joke.

Some great customer service from the Clapham Grand and Dice who worked hard to ensure everyone who'd paid for RHLSTP got a chance to watch the high quality versions of the show. Particularly impressive as it was a Sunday and the error that caused their problems was not their fault, but down to the internet in the area going down. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and for mainly remaining patient and understanding. I hope we can do it again.
