I liked the bit where Jeremy Cunt listed all the savings that would be made by reversing the policy of the mini budget, like that wasn't done by them. I am now going to save 100 billion pounds by not funding a mission to Mars. Let's spend that windfall on the NHS.

Actors and writers are constantly getting residual payments for old shows getting repeated in other countries or on Radio 4 Extra and they're often comically small (I once had one for 4p and my agent still took 1p). I wonder if you put all the payments under (say) £2 into one big fund what amazing things we could achieve with that money.
It would obviously take a bit of organisation and I also appreciate that acting is at tough profession and if you get hundreds of payments like that it might be helpful to you, but for most of us I don't think we'd notice or care. And certainly if the right charitable cause could be identified and it was all automated I think it would be a relief to many (the admin of making a 3p payment to an act is probably not covered by that 1p windfall). I'd say the best way to do it would be to allow people to opt out of the scheme (rather than opting in) if they wanted their 25p from a 1987 episode of  Duty Free that was shown in Zimbabwe (not specifically just that scenario). I suspect those payments add up to millions a year. But maybe there's less cash in repeats than I think.

I did OK at getting the kids to school on my own. I can't get my head around tying up my daughter's hair, though partly because she is convinced I am going to pull her hair when I am putting it in a pony tail. But apart from that and Ernie looking like he'd been dragged through a hedge I got there. I was so tired though. When there's two of you there's usually chance to have a little rest at some point.
I had planned to watch a couple of eps of Welcome to Wrexham last night in preparation for interviewing Humphrey Ker, but by the time I had to leave for London I'd got through 14 of the 18 in the first series. It's brilliant telly and though Ryan Reynolds and his mate from Always Sunny are very funny in it, the really great episodes are the ones about the people of Wrexham. I really don't understand why people with more money than they can ever spend on themselves, don't spend a bit on things that will bring happiness to other people. It must be an amazing feeling to just do something good. If you really love money then you can do something like own a football club that might end up making you some money too. But Ryan and Rob and Humphrey seem so sincere in their desire to see this insane project through and it is clearly so rewarding for them, even if (spoiler alert) Wrexham don't get promoted. I haven't seen the end of the series yet, so don't know if they do or not, though I note they are playing York City in a few weeks, so that might be a clue.
I interspersed this with listening to Philippa Perry's audiobook and checking out the Art Club. What a fun way to spend a tired Monday.

Once again we had a smallish crowd tonight, which was a shame as these were two top drawer guests and we got into some interesting areas. I hope the faithful will return in 2023, though tonight's audience were still lovely, but it's better with a little more to play off. I tried to turn the Philippa Perry interview into an hour of therapy for me, but Philippa was more interested in mocking my tiny feet and hands, which I don't think is textbook, but it was the right thing to do in a podcast.

I listened to Colin Murray on 5 Live on my way home and he not only kept me awake, but he's a top broadcaster with a terrific range of subjects in the 75 minutes it took me to get home. He'd ask Bing Crosby better questions than Roy Plomley managed. But sadly, Bing Crosby wouldn't answer them.

It's a relief to get a couple of weeks off RHLSTP after a very intense 8 day period of podcasting - though I have some PR stuff coming up and have to do this week's Book Club on Wednesday (but I don't have to read the book because I wrote it, and we then have Book Clubs to take us to the end of November). It's all been a bit full on. Then again I am recording a podcast at 9.30am tomorrow and another at 1pm. Fucksticks.
