Richard Herring is an English comedian known for his solo stand up or for his work in a double act with Stewart Lee, he’s back at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his show Richard Herring: Oh Frig, I’m 50.
Herring is 50, and that’s OK, in the 10 years since his show Oh Fuck, I’m 40, he’s began to come to terms with ageing, he’s fallen in love, gotten married and has a child, or as he calls them his sexcrement, with another child on the way. What you have, with his latest show, is his look at his place in life and how he got there. It’s an hour of very funny observational comedy from a man who’s brilliant at what he does, he knows how to hold his audience and has an amazing stage presence. With topics ranging from bags for life, kids tv shows, a tortoise mouthed George Clooney, wistful memories of baked potatoes from years gone past and even a sneezey penis.
He’s coming to terms with growing old but he’s determined not to grow up. Go and see a master of their craft, who’s still as cynical as ever but doing what they do best, making people laugh, you won’t regret it.
