Richard Herring
London
From On The Hour with Steve Coogan to Time Gentlemen Please with Al Murray, Richard Herring has had a hand in some of the funniest shows of the last 20 years, and although his own stuff isn't quite so well-known, it's generally just as entertaining. With his perennial double act partner, Stewart Lee, he fronted Fist Of Fun and This Morning With Richard Not Judy (two of the best comedy series ever shelved by the myopic BBC), and between times this short, fat middle-class man from Somerset has still found time to put on a string of shows which epitomise the haphazard magic of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His latest one-man show is Someone Likes Yoghurt. "The purest distillation of Richard Herring I have encountered," wrote Stewart Lee in the Sunday Times. "Irritating, relentless, pathetic, petty, pedantic, arrogant, embarrassing, pointless and endlessly funny."
