Exeter Northcott – Monday 20th May.

Let’s be frank: the subject if Richard Herring’s latest tour is not an easy one to discuss freely in a family newspaper. It is an updated version of a show Richard first performed ten years ago. It was conceived as a male response to the success of The Vagina Monologues and like his earlier shows Hitler Moustache (in which he attempted to “reclaim” the Nazi dictator’s distinctive type of moustache by growing one himself) and 2011’s religion-themed Christ On A Bike, it does not steer clear of controversy. Richard wrote an online survey to quiz men and women about their personal feelings and experiences. The results make for a fascinating – and hilarious – show.

Since first performing as a stand up and then on TV with Stewart Lee in the Nineties, Richard has developed hugely as a stand up and developed a loyal following. The Somerset born comic, who married soon after last yearÂ’s What Is Love Anyway ? tour certainly received a warm response from the audience during his Monday evening performance at the Northcott. Hopefully, he will return next year.
