If I can survive the next four days (and it's quite a big if - I am not feeling the best) then I will have been alive in seven different decades (accepting the conventional and incorrect definition of a decade starting in years ending in 0 rather than years ending in 1 - it's not a hill worth dying on - how many of you celebrated the new millennium in 2001? And if you did were there many people with you on that?). It doesn't seem possible that a 52 year old man could have lived in 7 decades, but it just proves that maths is fucked up and clearly wrong. Come on mathematicians, it all seems to be working well, but then you just try to get out of the fact that numbers never run out by claiming that it goes to infinity. Doesn't make sense does it? Things can't go on forever. There must be an end point. Your system works OK for low numbers but gets a bit stretched once you get up high. Sort it out.
We've all had enough of experts. Let's all make up our own so-called “numbers”.
So anyway, I can't imagine there is anyone in the world who's lived in more decades than me. Plus someone pointed out I've also been alive in two millennia and two centuries, making me an impressive 2270 years old. I've looked into and the oldest person before was Jeanne Calment who was only 122 and she apparently only managed that by getting her daughter to pretend to be her for the last 70 or so years. So I win that race quite comfortably.
I was pleased about that until I remembered about the curse of the oldest person. But if I've survived for 2270 years (which is even longer than Jesus has been alive, and he died once so doesn't count in the record books) then I can survive another 20 or so, surely. I'll take four days. Just for a vision of 2020.
It's going to be a great year, right?
