Tuesday 3rd August 2004

The show is coming together, but I fear the first few shows will be shaky and too long. I keep cutting stuff, but then it sneaks back in an hour or so later.
Jeremy and me were sitting having a coffee before the tech (in a cafe, not from the police box. I have realised that what I thought was love was just a childish infatuation).
There was a table of young women sitting next to us, who it became clear were working at the Pod. The tables were right next to each other so we were practically in the same group.
There was a lull in my and Jeremy's conversation about what the fuck we were going to do to sort this show madness out. The girls were discussing which show to watch and at this point one of them said, "Richard Herring is meant to be quite good. I've never heard of him myself."
Me and Jeremy smiled at this nice, if slightly back-handed compliment and one of the other girls saw us and whispered to her friend. Presumably saying, "I think that's him!" The first girl blushed and everyone giggled.
It could have been a lot worse, she could have said, "I hear Richard Herring is shit. I've never heard of him, but everyone says he's terrible and that no-one is going to see him. Also he falls in love with everyone. I expect he is in love with about three of us already. As I can see a bloke who is so physically repulsive that it must be him, at the next table eavesdropping like a pervert."
Obviously none of that would have been true though.
